Overland Park Flowers of the Month

Did you know that there are different flowers associated with each month? Making monthly bouquets out of these symbolic flowers is an easy way to surround your self with the beauty and feelings of every season.

Winter Floral Arrangements Bloom with Love, Hope, and Loyalty

January’s flowers are the carnation and the snowdrop. Nothing adds a touch of brightness to winter like a bright carnation. Red carnations mean, “I love you.”

Snowdrops not only symbolize the frost sparkling outside your window, they also mean hope. In the short winter days, a snowdrop of spring is encouragement we all need to get through the cold.

Valentine’s Day flower arrangements are filled with red roses, but roses aren’t February’s flower! The shy violet with its purple petals is the February birth month flower. Symbolizing loyalty, the violet reminds us to be true to each other.

Spring Flowers Bring Affection, Bliss, and Happiness

Daffodil and jonquil blooms are like bouquets of spring sunshine right in your home. Both flowers symbolize affection and are early bloomers during the first month of spring.

April showers bring daises and sweet peas. While daisies sprout with cheer, their meaning is about loyalty, innocence, and love. The sweet pea signifies blissful pleasure. Think, “spring spa” and add a little sweet pea relaxation to your décor.

May birth month flowers are the lily of the valley and the hawthorn plant. Both flowers mean happiness. In fact, the hawthorn symbolizes supreme happiness. If you feel like your happy needs a boost, consider hawthorn flowers!

Summer Florals Shine With Passion and Pleasure

Summer wedding bouquets aren’t complete without roses, and conveniently, roses are a June flower. Just like June’s other monthly flower, the honeysuckle, both blooms speak of deep bonds and are fabulously fragrant.

July’s birth month flowers are known for dazzle just like the month they represent. Larkspur and the water lily also symbolize love, but with a burst of the majestic.

August flowers encourage you to soak up the sun with their ruffled petals. Bright gladiolus and poppies promote pleasure and the heat of summer fun.

Autumn Bouquets: Unity, Contentment and Longevity

As September days shorten, asters and morning glories continue to bloom. These fall wedding flowers indicate that powerful love always unites us.

Vibrant marigolds and cosmos represent October’s flowers. As the fall days turn cozy, so does the flower symbolism. Marigolds mean contentment in love while cosmos represent serenity.

Chrysanthemums are November’s flower. They promote purity, longevity and encourage us to always be true of heart.

And Don’t Forget December Flowers!

The pale white narcissus and the green/red holly couldn’t look more different. Yet, December’s flowers both symbolize hope—the perfect feeling for the holiday season.
